The reason you needed this new parameter was to avoid annoying cgit
users when a commit has a very large diff, right?

If so, I think a better solution is to introduce e.g.
"max-commit-diff-lines" and stop generating the diff when this limit
has been reached (and add a "more" link to allow interested users to
view the full diff).
