That is indeed a damn good question. The line was written by Jonathan
Chu <milki at rescomp.berkeley.edu> in
2e53d994cd2c9e870f0c13be4769fd4ef9510aa8, and it seems to have slipped
past my review. I'm CCing him to inquire. Thanks for bringing this to
my intention.
