Ok. Just in case it wasn't clear: m4 is only needed during the build
process, not during execution. The whole platform code is inlined. m4 is
also available on every platform I know of and it is the standard tool
for macro-like file inclusion.

I'm saying this just to avoid any misunderstandings; if you still want
to do it in another way, feel free to do so -- I won't object.
