improved a bit with 'readlink'

# change the password store directory
function passdir {
    if [[ -n "$1" ]]; then
        export PASSWORD_STORE_DIR="$(readlink -nf "$1")"
    else
        unset PASSWORD_STORE_DIR
    fi
}
