pass has slowed down heaps

Hi Folks,

Looking for a bit of clue if I can. :-)

Installed pass 1.7.1 via brew on OS X.

Now upgraded to Sierra, and pass seems to be really slow, even just running
--version:

E.g. > 5s

$ time pass --version
============================================
= pass: the standard unix password manager =
=                                          =
=                  v1.7.1                  =
=                                          =
=             Jason A. Donenfeld           =
=               Jason at zx2c4.com            =
=                                          =
=      http://www.passwordstore.org/       =
============================================

real 0m5.470s
user 0m0.368s
sys 0m0.368s

Does anyone have any idea what may be causing the slowness?
