Extensions that override core commands

Hi,

I would like to write an extension that overrides core commands so that I
can extend pass to query other backens (in my case 1Password and
Hashicorp's Vault). As far as I can tell this is not currently possible
with pass because the extensions that aren't already known.

Would such a change to make my requirement possible be welcome?
If so what are the steps I need to go through to contribute such a change?
