[PATCH] Speedup pass on macOS and brew

I noticed the annoying ~1s startup delay on macOS when running `pass`
installed via Homebrew, and found it had been discussed here:

That discussion culminated in this proposed patch by

But it looks like this patch hasn't yet been committed to the tree. Was it
rejected? I would be happy to help improve or test this patch if needed.
